| Pipevine swallowtails (Battus philenor) have also been more noticeable over the past 2-3 years thanks in part, at least in my yard, to the addition of pipevine (Aristolochia). | |||||||||||||||

| Lilies have always been one of my favorite flowers though for the most part, they are not a very good butterfly-attractor. The following pictures are from my two main lily gardens (as well as from other gardens that I used lilies either for background or center pieces). To be honest, the only butterfly I have ever seen attracted to lilies are tiger swallowtails (Pterourus glaucus). Wherever possible in the following pictures I have included the names that these lilies are sold as. Click on the picture below to see individual pictures of the lilies in this garden. | |||||||||||||||
| This is my main lily garden, made up of assorted oriental, tiger and day lilies. Also thrown into the mix are other assorted tall flowers such as Butterfly Weed (Asclepias), gladiolas and Red Bee Balm. At the time that this photo was taken there were many lilies that still hadn't bloomed. The following pictures are of the individual species that are in this garden. | |||||||||||||||
